The 5 Most Important Things From My Podcast with Abel James
Abel James is a podcaster, author, musician, polymath, and TV Host!
1. Quote: "Don't waste your time yelling into the algorithmic abyss; dedicate yourself to building the world you want to see." - Abel
2. Curiosity: Self-Patroning—Many of my friends have built lives where they become their own patrons. The idea is to build a business adjacent to your interests or art, scale that so that you can acquire time wealth, and then spend your time wealth pursuing your art.Â
This idea sounds great, but there are many traps along the way, and it is not obvious to me that this will actually create greatness, though it might decrease suicides.
Thoughts?
3. The Laws of Internet Entropy
The Internet has massively increased idea entropy. The 2nd Law of Internet Entropy, or Thermomemetics, is a powerful tool. It is akin to magic; we can literally meme our dreams for the world into the zeitgeist and then into analog reality. The math equation is incoming.
4. ARTificial Intelligence
We are heading full-steam toward a reality where AI-generated Content is being optimized for AI-generated algorithms. A reality where a bunch of robots are just playing a never-ending game of optimization chess for our attention, and we will just sit back with our dicks in our hands, distracting ourselves to death, and never wonder if La Sagrada Familia was finished.Â
5. The Future Class Division
Abel went to school to be a Brain Scientist. He went a different route, but his peers ended up at the top companies, finding ways to hijack your reward pathways and pillage your attention.
The smartest people in the world are being paid ungodly amounts of money to mine your time. The future classes will be divided into those who can use these platforms as tools and those who can become the tools of the platforms. The government will not save you from this. Only you can choose to stay off your phone more than you are on it.
To create space for writing, thinking, and nothingness.
I am afraid that if you do not take this seriously, you will find yourself the energy source for the Robots as you watch your 100th Andrew Tate reel of the day telling you to escape the Matrix.
ere.
Thanks for going deep into uncharted territory on this one, Sky.
