The first long-form podcast, NFT made possible by RMRK.APP, Kusama Network, and the Polkadot Ecosystem
Thank you for being early for the party. The time is now. Sky King’s Mental Playground is launching with an exciting experiment. We are experimenting with the next generation of media monetization powered by Web3. A model that will allow creators to realize the “1000 True Fan’s” dream to make a living solely from the content they create, not by shilling supplements or begging for subscribers on Patreon. I have a vision for Create-to-Earn and Consume-to-Earn economies that appropriately value the creator's content and the consumer's time.
Today, our world runs on advertising; tomorrow, that will be seen as an inefficient business model. This experiment is the first step in realizing that dream.
For the launch, I collaborated with Bruno Škvorc, founder of the RMRK.APP to launch the first-ever long-form podcast NFT. We have created 11 pieces in total. You can find them here tomorrow morning, but you need a Polkadot.js wallet and Kusama to participate. So if you are unfamiliar with that part of the crypto world, you can learn how to onboard here and can get Kusama on the RMRK site. under “Get KSM.”
This week's NFT drop will be a collection from my podcast with Bruno. The group will include:
Eleven audio clips with specific gifs or static imagery relating to the clip
Each piece of art is beautifully made. It is a series of inside jokes, cyberpunk aesthetic content relevant to the podcast or clip it represents.

How to listen to the podcast
If you do not want to participate in the NFT drop, no worries. You will still be able to access and listen to the podcast. In addition, all substack subscribers who are subscribed to any plan before the first episode drops will get free access to the podcast for life.

Where will the money go?
Sky King's Mental Playground is a subsidiary of Modern Stoa Limited. This means it is a for-profit company. We believe in building for-profit media business models that can result in more sincerity in media. With that being said, we are really on a mission here. The role of my life is to build systems that increase the opportunity for media incentives that lead to outcomes that society would benefit from. This includes knowledge, love, freedom, truth, critical thought, and more.
We will be taking 25% of all the revenue and using that outside of the company with that in mind. We will be sharing these numbers publicly, and the paying listeners will have the opportunity to participate in some of this decision-making.
20% of all revenue will be used to angel invest or give grants annually to disruptive and innovative media companies trying to create business models around media that do not include advertisements. When we become large enough, I want this to look similar to the Thiel Fellowship.
5% of all revenue will go to a different non-profit organization each quarter. Thus, the audience will have opportunities to participate in the selection process of the Non-profit organization.
The rest of the revenue will pay the operating expenses, upgrade the quality, pay the team, grow the show, pay me, and help fund STOA.
